Selecting an Eye Surgeon

Undergoing any surgical procedure can be stressful, especially if it involves something as precious as your eyesight. When choosing a surgeon, it is important to choose someone with outstanding knowledge and experience. Quite often, the best source for choosing a surgeon can be your family eye doctor. He or she has an opportunity to examine and talk with patients who have had surgery by many different surgeons. They can describe their experience with different surgeons and can make knowledgeable recommendations to help with your decision.

Co-Management

Your family eye doctor performs routine eye exams and treats many diseases of the eye. However, when surgical intervention is required, they often refer these patients to an ophthalmologist that specializes in the surgery required. This joint sharing of patient care is known as co-management. Co-management combines both the skill and knowledge of both doctors to provide the best medical care possible.
