Dr. Mulrooney specializes in general ophthalmology and cataract surgery. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Memphis in 1990 and went on to pursue his Medical Doctor degree at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine, where he graduated in 1995.

Upon graduation, he completed a one year Transitional Internship at Methodist Hospitals in Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Kansas City, Kansas to pursue a three year Ophthalmology residency at the University of Kansas. Once he completed his residency, he moved back to Tennessee where he completed a one year Ophthalmic Plastic Surgical Fellowship with Ophthalmic Plastic Surgical Associates.

After Dr. Mulrooney completed his fellowship, he moved back to Kansas to serve as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and as the Director of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgical Service. He served at the University of Kansas until he joined us at VisionAmerica in October 2004.

Dr. Mulrooney is board certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has also authored ophthalmologic publications.

Dr. Mulrooney is married and has two young children.

Dr. James W. Marbourg received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Physiological Optics, and in 1977, a Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry.

Dr. Marbourg was in private practice in Birmingham as well as on the faculty of the UAB School of Optometry from 1977-1992. He joined the Center in 1992 and also serves as a Regional Vice President for VisionAmerica.
