Dr. Bina Patel is a fellowship-trained cornea subspecialist with additional extensive experience in cataract, external diseases, and comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr. Patel is a highly skilled surgeon who performs corneal transplants and cataract surgeries.

Dr. Patel graduated Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University where she had a full academic scholarship as a Provost Scholar. She then received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine while under the full merit Samuel E. Booker Scholarship. Dr. Patel completed her residency at the University of Virginia Department of Ophthalmology. She was Chief Resident during her final year of residency. Her fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease was completed at University of Virginia under Dr. Leslie Olsakovsky.

Dr. Patel moved to Tennessee in 2014 and started working at the Veterans Affairs Tennessee Valley Healthcare System. She developed the cornea program and performed the first Descemet’s Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty in the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System. She greatly enjoyed serving our veterans during her time at the VA. “At the VA and during my training, I developed relationships with my patients and their families and discovered this to be the most rewarding aspect of practicing ophthalmology. I look forward to developing more relationships at Eye Health Partners.”
